Tokyo Sky Tree in Sumida, Tokyo, is proceeding with the construction of additional lighting equipment to illuminate the tower to attract the attention of foreign tourists visiting Japan after the 2020 Tokyo Olympics and Paralympics. Construction has been underway since May and will be completed by the end of the year.
The construction will involve the installation of a total of 347 LED lighting equipment at five locations outside the tower, 150 to 630 meters high. Each illuminates the surroundings of the tower and brightens the entire tower. The total number of lighting equipment after expansion will be 2362 units, and the upper layer from about 600 meters to the top will be about 30 times brighter. It is said that lighting after the expansion will start in March 2008.
